In the spring I stepped in as the president of the Creative Writers Association at the university I’m at. Normally, we hold our monthly graduate readings at this great dive-ish bar across from the English department. But now that we are on Zoom for much of life, we have had to adapt. Welcome to my hosting station, from the living room. It’s interesting about how, a year ago, I wouldn’t have guessed this scenario. Is that wonder?

On this 4.5 mile walk/jog I take I pass this single Spanish Hacienda style house. It’s solo in the sea of brick. Brick exists everywhere in Oklahoma. But this house reminds me of home, of Southern California. I’m always so drawn to it, so today I decided to capture a photo of it. The lone hacienda.

So much wonder exists in the making of pizza. Especially when you are three and enjoy throwing the ball of dough around!

Something so divine exists in the perfect shot.

Not all wonders are enchanting, I’ve come to learn. Some just leave you pressing, thinking, questioning. Brea the cat has some rash and she has been pulling out her fur and we have been trying to help her with different medicines, but no luck yet. I wonder if it will take a change in a season for it to go away. Or maybe a trip to the vet.

I don’t know about you but I LOVE pictures that were taken when I wasn’t around. I wish there was a way to time travel, be on this deck, groovin’ with my in-laws and their friends. Can someone invent this?

Like this one. 😭😭 Shadow climbing out of the mud? Gutting twenty years later, too. Is that not wonder? The emotion that does not leave us.
